Mission Statement: The mission of the Green Village-Green Future Project is to create a culture of environmental literacy in rural villages in East Africa, while developing an environmentally-sound and economically-productive future for village communities.

Strategic Goals: Strategic goals of Green Village-Green Future include
- Improvement, protection and maintenance of the local environment – land, water, and air
- Development of healthy and productive lifestyles for rural peoples
- Creation of green economies that can be locally sustained over time
- Development of training and education to support economic, educational, and health productivity
Action Plan: The Green Village-Green Future Project maintains a single systematic action plan, across each specific village project. This action plan system is complemented by a fully-customized needs-based approach to each individual project.
Green Village-Green Future is working to identify specific villages in need of environmental, health, economic, and educational support. Villages must meet specific criteria, outlined in the Green Village Selection Checklist. A multi-tiered village assessment will be completed to identify the specific needs and potentials of each village - working with village leaders to understand the goals of the village and prioritize project action. After a customized village plan is collaboratively developed,project staff will engage in a four-phase effort to improve their environmental, health, economic, and educational welfare.
